      <image:caption>As a sport psychologist I work with people to help them understand how they can use sport psychology to help them on their sport and exercise journey.   Helping you to clarify your goals, develop a meaningful route to achieve these goals, and change how you feel about pressure are all important parts of my work. I am interested in what drives you and believe that this is an important ingredient to help you put good intentions into action. I am very passionate about ‘translating’ sport psychology - all of us can benefit from it! I have worked with athletes from a range of sports, including endurance sport, racquet sports, and ball sports, as well as a range of levels (recreational, regional, national, Olympic level) and ages. My work includes consultancy on an individual basis as well as tailor-made workshops and work at events such as marathons. I strongly believe that if you enjoy your sport this will help you to perform well at every level (and this goes beyond sport).</image:caption>

      <image:caption>Research plays an important role in my sport psychology practice. My research focused on two main areas: Challenge and threat states. Feeling pressure before an important competition is common. How can you see this pressure as something that’s positive and as a challenge, not a a threat? Understanding how athletes can move from a threat to a challenge underpins a lot of my practice. Endurance performance. I am fascinated by the mental demands of endurance performance. The motivation to keep going and putting in the training hours, how to pace yourself, the willingness to endure pain, and the time to think are all parts of endurance performance that I love working with.       <image:caption>A common yet little understood phenomenon amongst runners is overcoming the urge to slow down significantly, temporarily stop, walk, or quit at an unplanned time. Considering how common and undesirable the urge is, the RESIST group has put together brief psychological interventions for recreational endurance athletes.  The interventions focus on optimising pace-related decision-making, managing expectations, and dealing with thoughts around the urge to slow down, stop, or quit.
